Technology
My work for the last four years or so has been primarily targeted towards system architecture, design patterns, team management and technical advisory altough I have done some active development in pet projects and occasional proof-of-concepts.
Previously as an active system developer I was largely focused around Microsoft's technologies such as VB.NET/C#, Visual Basic, ASP.NET, WinForms, SharePoint, BizTalk, MS SQL and EPiServer. And of course common web technologies and design patterns such as SOA, SaaS, MVC, CSS, JavaScript and XML/XSLT.
Other areas from where I have some, albeit lesser, experience is Tellstick, Umbraco, Linux, C/C++ and Java.
In recent years I have have had the opportunity to work with some cool technologies that I am really excited about; NodeJS, Django, ElasticSearch, Vagrant, BackboneJS, MongoDB and LUA.
Onwards I am also really excited about rich clients (using AngularJS and similar), Python programming language, Internet of Things, iBeacon, single-board computers (Raspberry PI, Arduino etc) and much more. I am especially exalted about how these technologies will come to change the digital world we know of today and how they might alter the way we perceive technology.
Odd skills & experiences:
Trained in electronic engineering. Have worked as an electrician. Was involved in starting a video-game store.
Current and recent pet projects:
IoT/home automation hardware project based on Raspberry PI + Tellstick + NodeJS. Building my own custom "PC console". Written a couple of add-ons for an MMORPG game.
If I...
... should have learned a totally new language today it would be Python
... needed a new SQL database I would definitely look at Crate.io
... had a significant amount of money to invest it would be on Internet of Things (IoT)
... could wish for one area to get more attention it is environment friendly technology (I believe there is great room for improvements on power consumption etc)
... would begin a new pet project it would be in the area of home automation using Raspberry PI
